• Senior Program Manager

    The Senior Program Manager position includes a wide range of responsibilities throughout the product development cycle, including:

    • Represent vigilant.engineering with a high level of integrity and professionalism
    • Develop proposals and project plans
    • Lead collaborative multi-discipline project teams
    • Anticipate and resolve conflicts and issues
    • Facilitate team. project and client meetings
    • Meet and exceed internal customer and client expectations
    • Assume accountability for project success

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create detailed product plans and specifications, integrating customer, design, engineering, and business perspectives.
    • Drive product definition, design decisions, team alignment, and day-to-day program execution.
    • Lead analyses by the program team to optimize total system architecture for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, regulatory, and certification.
    • Participate in collaborative design reviews of RF, SW, ME and EE designs to ensure the system functions as designed prior to prototype fabrication.
    • Coordinate internal resources to ensure that project is delivered within scope, budget and time.
    • Collaborate closely and drive the resolution of technical issues by working with cross-functional teams such as Software, RF, industrial design, mechanical, EE, architecture, product design, NPI, and supply chain.
    • Track test progress, bugs, and fixes and produce regular written and verbal progress reports.
    • Organize, present, and evangelize the program status across engineering, business, client and senior leadership.
    • Successfully manage the relationship with clients, partners, vendors and all program stakeholders.
    • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate program management methods.
    • Measure program performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
    • Ensure that the program engineering team creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation.
    • Interact with internal and external customers as needed.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5+ years professional product development experience as a Program Manager, or Project Manager defining and developing hardware and/or software products.
    • 3+ years’ experience developing products in a regulated environment, such as aerospace, defense or medical.
    • Proof of successful management of large, multi-discipline, multi-member projects
    • Experienced in managing project timelines, delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, and often ambiguous environment.
    • Experienced in working with overseas CM/OEM/ODM vendors in product development.
    • Experienced in managing and interacting with various engineering disciplines including: mechanical, electrical, firmware, embedded systems, software developers, as well as ID and UX Designers.
    • Experienced working with project management tools or software.
    • Product development processes and an understanding of manufacturing processes.
    • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and support multiple competing tasks
    • Effective interpersonal communication skills both internally and with outside clients
    • Project planning, monitoring, and reporting skills
    • Familiar with best practices and structured product development process
    • BS in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, PM or related field.
    • Consulting experience
    • Ability to meet vigilant.engineering, customer and/or government security screening and background check requirements are required for this role.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Advanced degree in CS, CE, EE, ME or related
    • 7+ years of proven work experience as a Project or Program Manager in an engineering environment.
    • Experience seeing a product from early design all the way through being shipped and supported to a real-world customer
    • Experience leading a team of engineers and technicians
    • Experience leveraging technical and product development experience and strong cross-collaboration relationships to influence product direction
    • As our firm often designs and consults for partners who develop regulated devices, we look for engineers and program managers with significant experience operating under aerospace engineering and quality standards such as AS 91xx, SAE, ISO or other highly-regulated environments is also helpful.
